Home care consultant comparison scorecard

Name up to three consultants, set how much each of ten criteria matters to you, and rate only what you have been told or shown in writing. You get a score for each, labeled partial until every row is rated, plus warnings when a must-have has a red flag.

Free. No signup. Runs in your browser; nothing you enter is sent to us.

1. Who are you comparing?

Use any label you like. Leave a column blank if you are comparing fewer than three.

2. For each criterion, choose its importance to you, then rate each consultant. A Must-have rated Red flag is shown as a gap.

How to use the scorecard

Rate each consultant only on what you saw in writing or heard stated clearly. Leave a row blank if you do not know yet; blanks are never counted as zero, and the score stays labeled partial until every applicable row is rated.

  1. List up to three consultants you are considering.
  2. Set how important each criterion is to you, from Not applicable to Must-have.
  3. After each call, rate every criterion Clear yes, Unclear, or Red flag, based only on what you saw or heard clearly.
  4. Review any must-have gaps first.
  5. Compare scores only when the consultants were rated on the same criteria.
  6. Print the worksheet or download a CSV to keep a copy.

How the score works

Each rating is multiplied by the importance you chose, and the score is the share of points earned out of points possible on the rows you rated. A score is a conversation aid, not a measure of quality.

  • Importance: Not applicable = skipped, Nice to have = 1, Important = 2 (default), Must-have = 3.
  • Ratings: Clear yes = 2, Unclear = 1, Red flag = 0. Not rated is left out.
  • Score = sum(importance × rating) ÷ sum(2 × importance), over rated rows, as a whole percent.
  • A highest score is named only when the consultants were rated on the same number of criteria, at least five. Ties name no leader.
  • A Must-have rated Red flag is a gap, whatever the overall score.

Worked example (hypothetical)

These ratings are made up. Suppose criteria 1, 2 and 6 are must-haves, and two imaginary consultants are rated on the same 6 of 10 criteria. Example A scores 93% with 0 must-have gaps. Example B scores 50% and has 1 must-have gap, a Red flag on contract terms. Both stay labeled partial because 4 criteria are not rated yet. “Load hypothetical example” shows the same numbers; neither is a real business, and your own worksheet is kept separately.

Where your entries are stored

Your entries are saved only in this browser on this device so you can come back to them. They are never sent to us. Printing and CSV download happen on your device, and Reset erases only this tool’s saved entries.

Frequently asked questions

Why are all ratings blank?

Pre-filled ratings would be guesses about companies we know nothing about. You can load a clearly labeled hypothetical example to see how scoring works, and it will not touch your own entries.

Why does the score say partial?

A score is labeled partial until every applicable criterion is rated for that consultant. Blank rows are left out of the arithmetic, not counted as zero.

Why was no highest score named?

A leader is named only when every consultant was rated on the same number of criteria, at least five. Otherwise the percentages are not comparable.

Can I score Home Care Agency Blueprint?

Yes. We offer consulting, and we would rather you score us with the same rules as everyone else.
